TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

Police have identified a 70-year-old man who died after being hit by a car in Tigard.

Emergency crews responded to Pacific Highway near 65th Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses reported seeing a man attempt to cross the highway when he was hit by a vehicle in the northbound lanes.

Tommy Hooker, 70, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He later died at the hospital. Police released his name Wednesday.

Investigators said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At the time of the crash, rain was falling steadily which contributed to poor visibility, according to police.

Officers said there were no indications of driver impairment and no citations were issued.

The highway was closed for two hours with detours in place.
