MILWAUKIE, OR (KPTV) -

A man who shot another man in Milwaukie was arrested 12 hours later in Portland in an unrelated case before he was arrested again on attempted murder charges for the shooting, according to police.

Police responded to the 2400 block of Southeast Willard Street in Milwaukie at 8:30 p.m. Sunday to investigate reports of a shooting.

Officers arrived and located a 25-year-old man suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.

The shooter left the scene before officers arrived.

Investigators identified the suspect as 31-year-old Long Thanh Vo. While looking for Vo, detectives learned he had been arrested by Portland police in an unrelated case.

Vo was booked into the Multnomah County Jail early Monday morning, less than 12 hours after the Milwaukie shooting, on charges of felon in possession of a firearm.

Milwaukie police went to Portland and arrested Vo as he was being released from the Multnomah County Jail.

Vo was then booked into the Clackamas County Jail on charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangering and delivery of controlled substances-cocaine and heroin.

Police said Vo and the shooting victim knew each other and the shooting was not a random act.
