Man says car, revolver stolen in Salem

Posted: Updated:

A man says his car was stolen in Salem Monday morning, and he had a prized possession in the front seat that he wants the thief to bring back.

Joseph Vance says his car was stolen in front of the Corner Market, at Market Street near Savage Street, while he ran inside to buy a pack of cigarettes. He says he was only inside the store for a few minutes.

His father, who is battling cancer, had given him a revolver and it was sitting in the front seat of the car.

Vance says he was getting ready to register the gun in his name and have it engraved.

Now, Vance is devastated that it's gone.

"That's what's special to me, the car and the revolver. I mean, everything else is replaceable. But the revolver is the main thing I was worried about, being on the streets for one, plus a gift from my father that was passed down through the family. It's something I really want back."

The car is a 2000 gold Oldsmobile. Vance says there is also a state sticker on the back.

Vance says he just wants his things back, no questions asked.
