The holidays have officially kicked off at the Oregon State Capitol as the 35th annual Holidays at the Capitol was held on Tuesday.

During the event the South Salem High School choir sang in the Rotunda, then Santa made an appearance followed by the tree lighting ceremony.

Families enjoying the event were able to get a photo with Santa, as well as snack on cookies and punch.

Starting on Wednesday, more than 4,000 performers will fill the Capitol with sounds of the season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
