Shooter fires into Vancouver bar, injures two people inside

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Police are searching for a suspect after two people were shot at from outside a bar in Vancouver early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the scene at the QuarterDeck Bar in the 4300 block of East Fourth Plain Boulevard around 12:53 a.m.

Jeremy Archuleta said he was enjoying a beer at the bar when the good time suddenly turned terrifying.

“All of a sudden, there was just a pop and glass shattered and things like that, and people went down," Archuleta said. “I thought it was a firework, and then someone was like, 'Someone got shot, someone got shot,' and low and behold -- someone is on the ground like bleeding.”

Police said both victims were taken to the hospital, one with what investigators call "significant injuries."

Archuleta said he was just feet away from one of the victims when the shots rang out. He said he saw the other when he went to check on his girlfriend who was in the bathroom.

“One lady was in the bathroom with her leg shot and one gentleman was shot in the chest," Archuleta said.

Police said the suspect fired the shots from outside the bar.

Thursday afternoon, investigators were still on scene collecting evidence. Several markers point to shell casings in the parking lot, and one car parked in front of the bar has a broken back window. Evidence markers also sit in a window of the building.

Vancouver Police said there is no suspect information, and they haven't offered information about why the bar was targeted.

Archuleta said he's trying not to think about how close he may have been to death.

“It was pretty scary," he said. "Vancouver is not necessarily a place where you expect to see someone get shot up.”

And although he is shaken, Archuleta said he'll be back to QuarterDeck for another beer, and to thank employees who he said did the right thing.

“They wanted to make sure we were all okay first and foremost last night which was very comforting for me."

Anyone with information on the shooting should call Vancouver Police.

Police said there is no suspect information at this time.

The Vancouver Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident.
