CASTLE ROCK, WA (KPTV) -

Officer with the Lower Columbia SWAT team assisted in the arrest of a Castle Rock man who officers say was shooting at his home early Saturday.

Deputies from the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence in the 400 block of Studebaker Road, Spur 2 on reports of gunfire are 12:10 a.m.

When the first deputy arrived, he reported hearing gunfire then announcing his presence and telling the suspect to drop his weapon and come out of the home.

Instead, the sheriff reports, the suspect refused and shot more, prompting the deputy to call for assistance.

After more deputies and SWAT officers arrived, additional attempts to contact the suspect by phone and by loudspeaker were made but unsuccessful.

After evacuating the neighboring residents, the SWAT officers were deployed. After a couple of hours, the suspect surrendered without incident.

The suspect, 46-year-old Thomas Mann, gave no explanation for his behavior and deputies noted he did not appear to be impaired. He was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail on charges of reckless endangerment.
