Officials at Portland State University are reporting that there have been two separate armed robberies on campus since Sunday night.

The first incident occurred Sunday around 11 p.m. when a student said he was on a sidewalk in front of University Point Apartments at 1955 Southwest 5th Avenue and was approached by two men.

One of the men displayed a handgun and demanded the student hand over his possessions. The student gave the men some change and cigarettes, then both suspects left in a black sedan with a rear spoiler.

The suspects in this incident were described as a black man in his 20s wearing sweat pants, a green jersey and white Nike shoes with yellow tips and a white man in his 20s with a short and thin build and tattoos on the front and sides of his neck who wearing a baggy shirt, baggy cargo pants and a black baseball cap.

Monday around 7:20 p.m. a different student was walking near Shattuck Hall when he said a suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded the student’s property as a second suspect came up behind the student on a bicycle.

The two suspects stole the student’s backpack, which contained several items including his cell phone.

The student described the first suspect as a white male in his 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds with spiked light colored hair, wearing a black hoodie and black jeans with a black and white bandana over his face.

The student could not describe the second suspect.
