PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Thursday's storm system will bring wind, snow and freezing rain to much of the area, but there might not be as much precipitation as earlier forecasts showed, according to FOX 12 meteorologists.

FOX 12 chief meteorologist Mark Nelsen reports that moisture is expected to hit the area midday Thursday, likely between 11 a.m.-1 p.m., but it likely won't be a crippling region-wide snow and ice storm.

Still, roads will be icy and freezing rain could pose a problem by the evening in some areas. Freezing rain is likely in the hills and near the west end of the Columbia River Gorge well into Thursday night.

In the metro area, a trace to 3 inches of snow is possible in some areas.
