Portland renters held a vigil downtown at the Multnomah County Courthouse Wednesday morning in support of people facing eviction.
People gathered in solidarity with the Ash Street Tenants Association, which claims renters were kicked out after A&G Management and owner Landon Marsh increased rent by 45 percent and initiated a no-cause eviction if it wasn't paid.
Protesters said the property company broke their agreement with renters and filed evictions two days before the agreed upon date.
"Definitely in Portland I feel like everyone has felt this astronomical increase in our rents probably for five years now,” Sheena Sisk with Portland Tenants United said.
Many of the renters gave testimonies encouraging more protections and rights for future renters.
