PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An arson suspect was arrested after firefighters responded to four fires in northeast Portland on Wednesday morning, including one inside a Grocery Outlet store.

Crews responded to the 4400 block of Northeast Broadway Street at 7:20 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. Two more fires were reported nearby at around 9:30 a.m. on the 4400 block of Northeast Hancock Street.

The last fire was inside the front doors of the Grocery Outlet store on Hancock Street.

People in the grocery store put out the fire with a portable fire extinguisher. Witnesses also detained the suspect until Portland Fire & Rescue's fire investigator arrived to take him into custody.

David Stewart, 46, was arrested on felony charges of first-degree arson. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court Thursday.

A possible motive was not released.

Portland Fire & Rescue's arson dog Zeus was able to positively identify that flammable liquids were used to start the fires.

Nobody was injured in the fires.
