TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

A man pleaded guilty in court to murdering his 73-year-old father in Tigard.

Nicholas Krochmal Jr., 39, entered his guilty plea Wednesday.

He turned himself in to police in March 2015 after his father was found killed in a home on the 9500 block of Southwest 69th Avenue.

Court documents state Nicholas Krochmal Sr. had suffered blunt force trauma to his head. His body was found on several towels with rubber exam gloves and a package of large trash bags nearby. His feet were also bound with rope, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The affidavit stated Nicholas Krochmal Jr. owed his father "a significant sum of money," and an email provided to police showed that the father had recently asked his son for repayment of the money.

Detectives later received a call that Nicholas Krochmal Jr. was being represented by an attorney. After turning himself in, Nicholas Krochmal Jr. refused to make a statement to police under the advice of his attorney, according to court documents.

Aggravated theft charges against Nicholas Krochmal Jr. were dismissed when he pleaded guilty to murder. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 9.
