SWEET HOME, OR (KPTV) -

Sweet Home Fire District responded to two logging accidents over the past 72 hours.

On Monday at 3:56 p.m., Sweet Home Fire responded to an logging accident where a yarder operator was struck in the legs when a log came through the cab of his machine. The man was taken to Riverbend Hospital for treatment.

Sweet Home Fire said on Wednesday at 10:18 a.m. they responded to another logging accident that happened on Ames Creek mainline where a 31-year-old man was struck in the head with a log during their operations.

The logging crew on Ames Creek mainline were able to bring the man to the road where EMS could access him. The man was then flown to Riverbend Hospital by REACH helicopter.

Sweet Home Fire said they were able to access both loggers because of their new four wheel drive medic unit. The medic unit helped EMS crews safely drive through the snow covered roads to reach each patient.
