COOS COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that the body found this week on a beach south of Bandon may be that of a boater missing since November.

Deputies were dispatched to the area known as China Loop Tuesday just before noon where the then-unidentified body was found.

Deputies noted that the body appeared to have been there for an extended period of time and was partially decomposed.

Investigators currently believe the body may be that of 48-year-old Stephen C. Navarro of Coos Bay. Navarro has been missing since a canoeing incident on November 15, 2016.

The sheriff’s office did note that the Coos County Medical Examiner is running DNA tests and dental comparisons to confirm the identity.
