A 40-year-old woman died after losing control of her car on an icy road near Corvallis and hitting an oncoming pickup on Highway 99W.

The crash occurred at 8:15 a.m. Thursday south of Northeast Crane Lane near Corvallis.

Investigators said a 2001 Toyota Corolla driven by Laura Leong of Corvallis was heading south when the car began to fishtail.

Leong's car crossed the centerline and collided with a northbound 2016 Dodge Ram 1500.

The Toyota came to a stop in a ditch on the east side of the road. Leong was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 59-year-old Corvallis man driving the pickup was not injured, according to deputies.

Deputies said there was a layer of ice on the road at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. David Peterson at 541-766-6820.

The highway was closed for more than two hours with detours in place.
