PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

All across the Portland metro area, we saw a thin layer of snow and cold temperatures. But things have shifted now to freezing rain, leaving trees, sidewalks and roadways covered in a slippery layer or ice.

Icy conditions really got the best of drivers on Mount Scott Boulevard in southeast Portland.

For several hours TriMet workers were out on the road trying to pull a bus out of a ditch.

TriMet told FOX 12 buses come up Mount Scott Blvd and swoop around to go back down, it's their usual route. The problem is there are other cars coming from the opposite direction, that's when drivers slow down and getting stuck is inevitable.

TriMet said even the best equipment they have out here sometimes isn't enough so it's best to steer clear of hills.

The bus stuck on Mount Scott Blvd was eventually pulled out of the ditch. No one was injured when the bus got stuck.

TriMet has sent out a new bus schedule for Thursday evening so driver know not to take the route on Mount Scott Blvd because it's infamous for cars, and even buses, getting stuck.

Riders should check TriMet's webpage for updates on route changes or service impacts: trimet.org/alerts
