OREGON CITY, OR (KPTV) -

A 19-year-old is facing charges in connection to the theft of Salvation Army red kettles in Canby and Oregon City.

One half-full kettle, multiple empty kettles and a kettle stand were stolen from outside two Fred Meyer stores on Dec. 5.

Oregon City Police used surveillance footage and witness statements to identify the suspect's vehicle and using that information, officers located Jeremiah James Tracy, 19, at his home in Oregon City and took him into custody.

Police said they recovered one of the stolen kettles, which had been damaged in the theft.

A Salvation Army report stated the loss connected with the thefts, including the loss of the kettles themselves and the expected donations associated with them on the day they were taken, totals well over $1,000.

Tracy was booked into the Clackamas County Jail on two counts of second-degree theft and one count of third-degree theft.
