SHERWOOD, OR (KTPV) -

Police officers arrested three men early Saturday morning after receiving reports of the trio “casing” vehicles to steal in a Sherwood neighborhood.

Officers were called to the 23700 block of Scott Ridge Terrace around 1:20 a.m. after someone reported that a suspect was trying to get into their vehicle.

When the first officer arrived on the scene, he saw a man in the vehicle who ran away from the scene when the officer turned around. Another officer found the man a short distance away and took him into custody.

After speaking with the first suspect, police began searching for two more men in a red Ford F-150 pickup. Dispatchers informed officers the vehicle had located by a Tualatin police officer.

Officers stopped the truck at Southwest 124th Avenue and Southwest Tualatin Road in Tualatin, and the two men were taken into custody without incident. The truck was seized as evidence and towed to the Sherwood Police Department.

After acquiring a warrant to search the pickup, officers found two stolen guns and other stolen property inside the vehicle.

Zachary Martin Butler, 23, of Tigard, was charged with criminal conspiracy, while 21-year-old Jacob Alexander Huggins of Sherwood was also charged with criminal conspiracy, along with violation of probation.

Adam James Craig, 21, of Tualatin, faces three charges of unlawful entry to a motor vehicle, as well as a charge each of second-degree and a charge of third-degree theft.

According to the Sherwood Police Department, this is an ongoing investigation, and police believe more than 100 vehicles may have been hit by these thieves.

Police are asking anyone who may have had property stolen to contact the non-emergency line at 503-629-0111.
