Suspect in deadly October hit and run arrested

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police have arrested a man they say killed a person during a hit and run crash two months ago.

Officers say Laurence Farrington, 29, crashed into another car traveling near Southeast Division at 139th Avenue on October 13.

When police arrived on the scene, they found the driver of the other vehicle suffering from life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel made life-saving efforts by the driver died while on the way to a nearby hospital.

Witnesses told police that Farrington and three passengers in his vehicle had fled the crashed car. The witnesses also said one of the men returned to the crash scene to retrieve a paper bag but at no time offered aid to the driver who died.

Investigators later gathered information that led to the arrest of Farrington by U.S. Marshals in Clackamas County.

Farrington was booked into the Multnomah County Jail and faces charges of first-degree manslaughter, hit and run, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
