PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Crews are still working to clean up from the winter storm that hit Portland last week with thick layers of ice that brought down hundreds of trees and limbs all over the city.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation and Portland Parks & Rec received 260 reports of ice from the storm, and crews are still working around the clock to address them all.

“My neighbor’s tree fell down on my fence, and as you can see there are trees down the block there,” Lisa Kruse, a North Portland resident said.

Kruse said she was lucky, though, since the branches that fell down on her property didn’t leave any damage. A block away on North Kilpatrick Street, crews with PP&R’s Urban Forestry division worked Tuesday to remove large limbs that fell onto the roof of a home.

Employees with Urban Forestry told FOX 12 the winter storm the city just faced marks one of the biggest events to impact trees across the city in a decade.

Crews are working around the clock to reach all of the problem spots, but time isn’t on their side. Another winter storm is expected to hit in Portland Wednesday afternoon.

“This is an old neighborhood and there’s a ton of old trees out here,” Kruse added. “So yeah I fully expect we’ll see more branches down, particularly if we get some high winds.”

For residents that have already reported a tree or limb down, crews say they will get to it as soon as they can. They also thank Portlanders for their patience as the crews work to address hundreds of reports across the metro area.
