Investigators think robbery at Portland restaurant may be tied to crimes in Vancouver

Posted: Updated:

Three men held up a north Portland restaurant at gunpoint Monday night, possibly as part of a robbery spree crossing state lines.

Investigators say that three men robbed the Lung Fung restaurant at 2025 North Lombard Street, threatening employees with a sawed-off shotgun, and think they may have targeted two more spots in Vancouver.

Fred Wilson is a regular customer at Lung Fung and said he can’t imagine how scared the staff and customers must have been. No one was seriously hurt, but Wilson was surprised that his go-to restaurant got hit.

“Well, it wouldn’t be a good feeling, it wouldn’t be a good feeling,” he said. “It doesn’t look like a likely place, but it’s a tavern, you know, or a bar and restaurant, whatever you want to call it. And people come in and spend money, and it’s that time of year.”

The owner of the restaurant told FOX 12 that three men in masks and waving a gun barged in looking for easy money, but they couldn’t get the cash register open after a few attempts so they took off.

About 45 minutes later, there was another robbery in Vancouver at the Shell gas station located at 1910 West 4th Plain Boulevard. Police said two black men and one white man with a shotgun, all wearing masks, held up the clerk and got away with cash.

Police then responded to a third robbery in the parking lot at the Elmer’s restaurant located at 11310 Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard. Officials say a man was sitting in his car when the thieves broke his windows and robbed him.

Vancouver police say the suspects were last seen in a dark-colored Honda on Fruit Valley road. They ask anyone with information on these incidents to call police right away.
