SHERWOOD, OR (KTPV) -

One person is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a large fire broke out inside a house in Sherwood Wednesday night.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue said they were called to the scene in the 23000 block of Mansfield Street around 11:23 p.m.

Crews arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters said they made sure the two occupants were out of the house before fighting the fire.

The homeowners said they awoke to the smell of smoke and the sound of a fire crackling. Their fire alarms were not working.

TVF&R said neighbors called 911 while the homeowners evacuated. Both were transported to a hospital where one is suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The house was significantly damaged.

Fire crews would like to remind homeowners to always check to make sure their smoke alarms are in good working order.
