PBOT begins towing cars abandoned during snowstorm

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Time is up for those who abandoned their cars on Portland roads in the snow storm.

Portland Bureau of Transportation crews were out Friday at 8:00 a.m. ticketing those cars not yet moved off the streets.

Crews first focused on vehicles left in dangerous areas like blocking transit or emergency response routes before clearing out other non-emergency routes.

PBOT officials say they ticketed dozens of cars and towed dozens more.

“We go through and we ticket the cars and then call the tow company,” PBOT Communications Director John Brady said. “They will be towed. If you are lucky enough to come by before the tow company comes and pick up your car, then that's great, but they are scheduled to be towed.”

For drivers whose cars are ticketed and towed, the fine is $248. They will also have to call the police tow line at 503-823-0044 to find out where to pick up their vehicle.
