PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Police officers are looking for a suspect who stole a car with a child inside.

PPB reported officers were called to the 7500 block of Southeast Taylor Street just after midnight Saturday. Officers later found the car and the child.

Chazz Erickson said it was his car and son that was involved. Erickson said he came to drop something off at his friend’s house near Southeast Taylor Street and left his 7-month-old son in the car because of the weather.

“It was twenty degrees out,” Erickson said. “I didn’t want to take him out of the car.”

Erickson said he was on the front porch with his friends.

“I turned away for just a second, turned back around, and the car was gone,” Erickson said.

That’s when Erickson said he called police.

“I learned my lesson,” Erickson said. “No matter how close you are, never leave your kid in the car.”

Investigators said they have not made any arrests and officers are processing the car for evidence.
