Freezing rain, snow mix brings slick roads to Portland Monday morning

Posted: Updated:

Portland's winter weather spell is not over yet. The metro saw a wintery mix of snow and freezing rain in some areas Monday morning, bringing perhaps some slick spots to the roads.

Weather models called for snow and freezing rain in the early morning hours between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m., according to FOX 12 meteorologists.

Luckily the icy conditions are not expected to last long. Temperatures should warm up and bring rain to the Portland area by the later morning hours as strong winds come in from the south.

Weather experts advise drivers to delay their Monday morning commute to work until later if they can. Be sure to slow down and give cars extra stopping distance.

Although most school districts are out for Christmas Break, several are still in session this week and are delayed because of the weather. Click here for the latest school closures and delays.

This is the latest in a flurry of winter weather as Portland was hammered by two winter storms in the past two weeks, bringing ice and other related problems to residents.
