Clackamas Co. deputies issue 119 citations during enforcement mission on I-5

CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Clackamas County deputies issued 119 traffic citations during a one-day enforcement operation on Interstate 5.

The mission was part of a multi-agency traffic safety effort on June 22 that also including the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Marion County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police.

In Clackamas County, deputies conducted 10 hours of targeted traffic enforcement along all of I-5 within the county.

On Wednesday, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office released details of the citations that were issued.

  • Speeding: 26 citations
  • Fail to Obey Traffic Control Device: 35
  • Following Too Close: 15
  • No Seatbelt: 2
  • Cell/Text while Driving: 3
  • Driving While Suspended: 3
  • Registration/Insurance Violations: 14
  • No Operator's License: 7
  • Fail to Yield to Emergency Vehicles (including violations of the "Move Over Law"): 6
  • Lane Use: 6
  • Fail to Obey Police Officer: 1
  • Failure to Wear Motorcycle Helmet: 1

"It was a huge success all day -- followed by the dozens of thumbs-ups and 'thank yous' in the city of Wilsonville for enforcing the Wilsonville Road-I-5 traffic issue," reported Sgt. John Naccarato, head of the sheriff's office traffic team.  

The Washington County Sheriff's Office previously reported deputies with that agency stopped 94 cars and issued 65 tickets during the operation.
