PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police are investigating a shooting incident that shattered the window of a TriMet bus, damaged a nearby business and hit several cars in Northeast Portland late Wednesday.

Portland police were called to the scene at Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Lombard Street just around 11:45 p.m. on the report of a shooting.

While en route, officers learned the suspect had appeared to be shooting at a person in a car but hit the bus instead.

According to a TriMet spokesperson, bus line 75 was in the northbound turning lane on Martin Luther King Jr. at Lombard when it was struck by several bullets. Two passengers and the bus driver were on the bus at the time of the shooting. No one was hurt.

The gunshots shattered the bus's window and damaged a car in a neighboring Taco Bell parking lot.

Police also found a bullet hole in the side of a tire business nearby.

Witnesses reported seeing several black men involved in an altercation shortly before the shooting. Several vehicles sped out of the area after the shots were fired.

Police said several officers, including a K-9, searched the area but did not locate any suspects. Police have not released any suspect information.

The Gang Enforcement Team is continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call the Portland Police Bureau.
