NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) -

A bizarre theft now has a happy ending.

Sevi the cat is back home.

The 4-year-old cat was swiped from the yard of a Newberg home last Thursday.

Elizabeth Sides said she and her husband moved to the rural home in the Newberg area in January and Sevi came with the property.

They adopted the cat as their own and were crushed when Sevi disappeared.

Sides said she was shocked when she checked their motion-activated security camera.

The video showed someone drive up to the house, get out and pick up Sevi. The cat was placed in the car and the thief drove away.

Sides and her landlord did not recognize the person in the video.

Sides shared the video on social media and it generated widespread attention online.

On Thursday, Sides said Sevi was back home. She said the cat showed up in their yard Thursday morning.

Sides told FOX 12 she doesn't know if the thief returned Sevi or if the cat found its way back on its own.

Sevi was very hungry, but otherwise appeared OK.
