PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office are asking for the public's help identifying a man whose body was found in the Columbia Slough.

A boater spotted the body in the water near North Denver Avenue the afternoon of June 17.

River patrol deputies recovered the man's body. It was described as severely decomposed.

On Thursday, investigators released a description of the man in hopes someone will come forward with information to identify him.

The man is described as white, between 25 and 40 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 162 pounds with dark brown or black wavy hair. There were signs of dental restorations.

The man had a large tattoo depicting a trident with a cobra and the word "nabha" in Sanskrit above it.  The tattoo was 7 inches by 3 1/2 inches in size.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the medical examiner's office at 971-673-8220 or the sheriff's office tip line at 503-988-5300.
