Crews rescue worker from barge tank in NW Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Fire & Rescue crews rescued a person who fell inside a barge tank in northwest Portland on Friday.

Crews were called to the scene in the 4300 block of Northwest Front Avenue around 8:41 a.m.

Firefighters said the tank was 25 feet deep and the person fell from one platform inside to the other. The worker apparently suffered a medical emergency before the fall. 

Rescuers removed the worker from the tank shortly before 9:30 a.m. The worker was taken to the hospital and was described as alert and oriented at the scene.

The extent of the worker's injuries were not immediately known. 

Technical rescue crews were responded to the scene as a precaution.
