PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

It was a scary scene in northeast Portland: A man wearing a mask and holding a gun walked into a bar Sunday morning. He didn't end up taking anything, but surveillance video shows him strike a man in the head with his gun.

Every day, the doors open early for customers at Pappy’s Bar and Grill in northeast Portland. But on Sunday, shortly after 7 a.m., surveillance video shows a masked man walk into the bar, holding a gun.

"I was scared," said a customer who wanted to remain anonymous.

The video shows the man then pointing the gun at people's heads. Customers and an employee told FOX 12 he was demanding them to get on the ground.

"When you got a gun to your head, you're going to comply," said the customer.

The video then shows the masked man go to the back of the bar, and at that point, one of the customers tries to run.

"He headed for the door as the guy was robbing the place," said the customer.

Surveillance video then shows the masked man run after the customer and strike him on the head with his gun before finally taking off.

A few hours earlier though, Portland police confirmed Mousetrap Tavern in north Portland was robbed by two people. Police said they believe an employee was also struck with part of a gun.

Police are still investigating and have not said if the two crimes are connected.

For customers at Pappy's though, they're just thankful no one was hurt.

"Oh I love this place," said the customer. "I didn't think anything like this could happen here. This is a neighborhood bar."

Employees said nothing was actually taken at Pappy's.

If you have any information on any of the incidents, call Portland Police.
