TILLAMOOK COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A Corvallis man died after a paragliding accident along the Oregon coast.

Oregon State Police say 53-year-old Clifton Westin died Saturday at Cape Lookout State Park. They say Westin launched from the cliff overlooking the beach and descended to the rocks below, before being swept out into the ocean.

Emergency crews were unable to reach him from the shore, so the U.S. Coast Guard launched a helicopter and motor life boat from the Tillamook Bay Station.

Westin was found by the motor life boat crew and was unresponsive when he was brought onboard the boat.

Medical personnel then attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
