Parades, fireworks planned to celebrate Fourth of July

For anyone still deciding their Independence Day plans, there are several local parades and fireworks displays scheduled to be a blast.

Portlanders can enjoy fireworks right along the Willamette River in the annual display Tuesday night near the Waterfront Blues Fest. 

Oaks Park, “where the fun never ends,” is holding a 4th of July Spectacular. There will be access to picnic areas on a first-come first-serve basis but no alcohol or personal fireworks are allowed. Learn more about admission and event details at OaksPark.com.

Another option in Portland is an American classic for the holiday: baseball. The Portland Pickles are playing a double-header at Walker Stadium and fireworks are planned for after the night game. 

The fun starts early in Beaverton Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Beaverton Library Park, which is having a “Feedomthon.” The event includes a pancake breakfast, races and more.

The Canby Independence Day Celebration is full of activities for Tuesday including its traditional parade, car show and fireworks. It promises to be a day of family-friendly fun and has several new events like a larger kid’s events zone, arcade truck for teens and a local beer garden. 

For those who want to celebrate in the Gorge, Hood River is holding a Fourth of July parade from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

“It's time to celebrate our many freedoms and Lake Oswego does this with panache!” Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation is holding its Star Spangled Parade and Celebration, which will include a patriotic pie eating contest. 

West Linn’s celebration will be at Willamette Park, with an event that kicks off at 6 p.m. Tuesday and is free to the public. Some of the entertainment guests can expect are live music and fireworks. 

For Washingtonians, the Fort of Vancouver is celebrating Independence Day with fireworks at Pearson Field. A $5 donation is suggested of event attendees.

FOX 12 asked viewers what fun they had in store for the holiday between barbecues and fireworks, and most replied that grilling will be part of their day.
