KING CITY, OR (KPTV) -

A Portland man said he followed another driver through town after he was hit at a stop light and the driver did not pull over.

Daniel Sweet said it happened just before 10 a.m. Sunday near Bull Mountain Road.

Sweet said his car is now severely damaged.

"This is a new upgrade on the car, it's only on the 2006," Sweet joked, referring to the strap used to keep his trunk shut."It just stinks because the exhaust leaks into it."

According to Sweet, the driver who police identified as Jasmine, hit him twice at a stop light and took off.

"I asked her to pull over and she just took off, hit the car again," Sweet said.

According to Sweet, he followed the reckless river through town and never went over 30 miles per hour.

"If you're gonna run from somebody wouldn't you think you'd put a little more gas into it," Sweet said.

When they finally came to a stop near the King City public golf course, Jasmine got out.

"She got out of the car and came up to me and asked how much money would it take to make this go away," said Sweet. "I said 'you hit-and-run me lady, there's no way!'"

Sweet said before he knew it, she took off.

"Grabbed her little chihuahua, her purse and started to walk down the street and I started to walk behind her and I go, 'I don't think so,'" Sweet said.

He said police got to the scene shortly after and canvased the area, but couldn't find Jasmine anywhere.

Sweet, whose mother is in her 90's, has no clue what is in store for his car.

"I'm waiting to find out what's gonna happen, hopefully get it replaced because it's a vital thing in our family," said Sweet.

Jasmine turned herself into police on Monday. She was arrested and released for failing to perform the duties of a driver.
