HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

Hillsboro residents lined the streets downtown Tuesday to celebrate Independence Day with a parade.

The annual event was organized by the Hillsboro Rotary Club and had a theme this year of “American Pride.”

In addition to numerous floats and marching bands, the parade featured an F-15 flyover by the 142nd Fighter Wing of the Oregon Air National Guard.

One of the bands marching in the parade is the Liberty Marching Band and Colorguard, which is also working to raise money for new uniforms.

The band’s current uniforms are 14 years old, well past the standard 8 to 10-year lifespan for most uniforms. The school district had purchased the previous uniforms, but budget cuts have prevented them from getting replacements.

The cost of the new uniforms in $70,000 and the students and boosters have held fundraisers and created a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for the purchase.
