Portlandia star showing off artwork

Posted: Updated:

A co-star on the popular television show in Portland, Portlandia, has been called a "jack-of-all-trades" for her creative skill set, and now her art will be showcased at Clackamas Community College.

Fans may recognize Micheline Ronningen, or "Mickey," as Carrie Brownstein's mother on Portlandia.

Starting Wednesday, she's showcasing 37 pieces of her abstract artwork at Clackamas Community College's Wilsonville gallery through September 8.

"I was born a visual artist. I didn't talk until I was five. I drew pictures. I had my own language but nobody understood it. I guess I relate to it on a very primary level," Ronningen explained.

Ronningen said this event is all about her passion for art and explained that visual art is something she always goes back to despite her many other interests.
