HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

Nine people are without a home after a fire sparked at a house in Hillsboro early Thursday morning.

Hillsboro Fire and Rescue said firefighters were called to the scene in the 1100 block of Northeast Cornell Avenue around 12:25 a.m.

Firefighters said they arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the side of the home. A shed on a neighboring property had also caught fire.

Crews were able to contain fire about 17 minutes after arriving.

Seven adults, two children and several pets were inside the home at the time of the blaze. All were able to evacuate safely.
