Wildfire threatens homes, crops in Yakima County

YAKIMA COUNTY, WA (KPTV) -

A wildfire that grew to 5,000 acres in Yakima County on Thursday was threatening homes, crops and communications infrastructure.

Level 1 evacuation notifications were made for around 30 homes in connection with the Rattlesnake Hills Fire.

The fire was burning in grass and brush.

State firefighting resources were authorized and mobilized Thursday morning to battle the fire. Three wildland strike teams, air resources and an incident management team were all utilized.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
