PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Some Oregon lawmakers held a rally Thursday opposing the new health care bill.

Senator Ron Wyden and Senator Jeff Merkley, along with Representative Suzanne Bonamici, addressed supporters in northeast Portland who do not support the Republican health care bill that has been proposed.

Dozens of people came to the rally to explain why they are against it.

"I am opposed to new take away Medicaid-type bill. My wife has severe dementia and is in assisted living. She is on Medicaid and without Medicaid she would be out and it would be just me, and it's beyond my ability to care for her," said Harvey Thorstad.

Senate Republicans wanted to pass their bill before the Fourth of July holiday but had to postpone the vote after several senators said they did not support the bill.

Despite the delay, several key Republicans still think they can get the bill passed.
