Lake Oswego Police Department are looking for two people suspected of using stolen checks to buy groceries from several stores in the metro area.

The woman who owns those checks says her car was broken into weeks ago at Tryon State Park.

Kathy Jordan Jansen says on June 2 she went to go on a quick hike in the park, something she does regularly after work, when her passenger window was smashed in.

Jordan Jansen says she covered up the bag on the floor of her car but the suspected thieves found it. She says she immediately canceled all of her credit cards and reported her checkbooks stolen.

She says inside the bag were other things like business documents and personal items that she would like back.

Jordan Jansen says last week she learned that a half-dozen checks from her account had been used at several stores in the Beaverton and Aloha areas.

Lake Oswego police say store surveillance video shows a man and woman at the stores using the checks.

Jordan Jansen says in the videos you can see the woman wearing her purse.

“She has not only stolen from me but she has stolen from Costco, Fred Meyer, Trader Joe’s, the Grocery Outlet, she is stealing from them as well,” Jordan Jansen said.

The Lake Oswego businesswoman says she knows not to leave valuables in her car but tried to hide them the best she could. She wants to remind folks to make sure everything is out of your car no matter what.

“Never leave anything valuable in your car anywhere, at a trail head, any shopping center, where ever you are, just take it with you,” Jordan Jansen said.

She is hopeful that someone will recognize the two people in the surveillance video and call the police.
