PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Part of Scholls Ferry Road was shut down Friday afternoon as crews battled a two-alarm apartment fire.

The fire on the 5100 block of Southwest Scholls Ferry Road went to two alarms at around 2 p.m.

When crews arrived, they heard windows breaking and found flames shooting through the roof.

Firefighters battled the blaze for more than 40 minutes before it was declared under control. By 3 p.m., firefighters said the second alarm had been recalled and the road reopened by 3:50 p.m.

Firefighters said the fire damage was primarily contained to one unit, while four others sustained smoke and water damage.

There were no reports of injuries and everyone at the complex made it out safely.

The American Red Cross responded to provide assistance to nine displaced people.

The complex has 25 total units.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
