LEBANON, OR (KPTV) -

A suspicious device resembling an explosive was left outside a Lebanon park early Monday, according to police officers.

The Lebanon Police Department said a “Moss Out” container with the words “Stuff that goes boom” written across it was found near the southeast gate of Cheadle Lake Park around 2:15 a.m.

Officers located the object and set up a safe perimeter around it. Inside the container was a yellow cylindrical object wrapped in plastic about seven to eight inches in length.

Product numbers and the word “Explosive” were on the object.

The Oregon State Police Arson and Explosive Unit identified the object as a packaged emulsion explosive, commonly used for underground drifting, quarry and construction blasting.

The explosive did not have any wires, caps or detonating devices attached to it, according to police.

Police do not believe the device was placed maliciously.
