BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

A mother in Beaverton said a stranger tried to snatch her baby right out of her arms.

Gilma Matias said she was at the Beaver Creek Apartments playground on Tuesday with her son Kennedy and baby Sharon when a man approached them screaming “Give me your baby.”

“The man said, 'I like your baby, give me your baby.' I was feeling scared because he wanted to take my little sister,” said Kennedy.

Kennedy said the man screamed “I like your baby, give me your baby” then he said the stranger grabbed his little sisters arm.

“The man pulled her arm and then she started crying,” said Kennedy.

At that moment, Matias said a maintenance worker who heard the screaming ran over to help. FOX 12 spoke with that employee, who didn’t want to be identified. He said he thought the stranger was a threat.

“If he wasn’t there, the other man would have taken my sister,” said Kennedy.

After the confrontation, the family said the stranger ran away.

Kennedy said his mother can’t sleep as long as the stranger is still out there.

“When she closes her eyes, she imagines the man,” said Kennedy.

Beaverton police said they’re looking for a white man, in his mid-30’s with brown hair. Officers say the man was seen pushing a Home Goods shopping cart.
