Police investigating bank robbery in St. Johns neighborhood

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Friday afternoon at a grocery store in the St. Johns neighborhood.

Officers from the Portland Police Bureau’s North Precinct responded to the Chase Bank inside the Fred Meyer located at 6850 North Lombard Street just before 2 p.m.

Employees at the bank told police that a man walked into the bank and gave a teller a note demanding money. The witnesses added that the suspect implied that he had a weapon but that no one saw any weapon.

After getting a bag of cash, the suspect left the bank without further incident. Officers searched the area but could not find anyone matching the suspect’s description.

Investigators described the suspect as a 21 to 25-year-old black man standing 6 feet tall with a medium build.
