It was a day of fun for dozens of kids as they got out to enjoy playing tennis.
Portland Tennis and Education hosted a "Return the Serve Fun Day" in north Portland Friday.
There was a variety of tennis-related activities for kids and families to get an introduction to the sport.
The group also got a $10,000 donation check presented by Chase and the U.S. Tennis Association.
Leilani Gonzalez said she has been going to Portland Tennis and Education events for about seven years and said they offer her something very fun to do.
"It's really important because it gives me something to do besides just laying at home not doing anything or being out in the streets,” she said. "I find it really cool because it does introduce kids to other sports besides the simple running and basketball."
Portland Tennis and Education offers 9-week programs in the summer to help stop summer learning loss. For more information on the group, go to PTandE.org.
