FOREST GROVE, OR (KPTV) -

A three-alarm fire in Forest Grove damaged several apartments and left two people hurt.

The fire started just after 10:30 p.m. Friday at a home on 19th Avenue that had been converted into apartments.

According to Forest Grove Fire and Rescue, flames spread to the roof of a nearby auto repair shop so more firefighters were called in.

It took firefighters about two and a half hours to knock down the flames and put out all the hot spots, according to Forest Grove Fire and Rescue.

One person was taken to the hospital for burn injuries, while another person was treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but firefighters say it appears to have started in the kitchen in the first-floor apartment where someone was cooking frozen fries in oil.
