A 73-year-old man who just moved to Oregon from California is back with family after being reported missing Saturday.

Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office had asked the public for help finding Richard Carpenter, who had arrived in Salem Friday night to live with family.

Around 8 a.m. Saturday, he left his home on Wyant Court Northeast and did not return.

The sheriff's office reported Tuesday morning that Carpenter had been located safe.

According to deputies, an observant citizen recognized Carpenter at a Burger King and called Keizer Police at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Carpenter was then reunited with his family.
