Wildfire near Clatskanie burns about 30 acres, Highway 47 closed

Firefighters are responding to a wildland fire burning along Highway 47 near Clatskanie. 

The fire was reported at 11:30 a.m. Sunday,  according to the Oregon Department of Forestry. As of 7 p.m. Sunday, the fire is 70 percent lined and holding at about 30 acres. 

The fire is located just outside of Clatskanie. It’s on private land protected by ODF’s Forest Grove District, Columbia Unit and is burning in slash. According to ODF, more than 70 firefighters, including helicopter and ground crews, were fighting the fire. 

At this time, no structures are threatened.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

Crews from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, Hillsboro Fire Department, Banks Fire District 13 and Forest Grove Fire & Rescue were called for a Wildland Strike Team response to assist with the fire. 

The Oregon Department of Transportation says Highway 47 has been closed in both directions at milepost 5 due to the fire. There is no estimate on when the roadway will reopen. Drivers are asked to find an alternate route.
