COWLITZ COUNTY, WA (KPTV) -

It’s a view of Mt. Hood most people don’t see every night.

FOX 12 photographer Omar Granados captured several stunning images of the aurora borealis and the Milky Way galaxy illuminated over Mt. Hood Sunday night.

The pictures were from High Rock Lookout in Cowlitz County.

Per AuroraHunter.com, the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, is a natural phenomenon caused when charged particles from solar flares penetrate Earth’s magnetic shield and collide with the atmosphere.
