WALDPORT, OR (KPTV) -

Deputies are searching for a man who attempted to assault a 17-year-old girl in Waldport.

The incident occurred at a public location near the 2600 block of East Alsea Highway at 8 p.m. July 11.

Deputies said the teen was able to fight the man off and provided a description of him to first responders.

Lincoln County deputies and Oregon State Police troopers searched the area, but the suspect was not located.

A forensic image specialist from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation and created a composite sketch of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall to 6 feet tall and 220 to 240 pounds. The victim said he had a clean-shaven “baby face” with some sort of scarring or sun spots, along with big lips. He also spoke with an accent.

The man’s eyes were obscured by a beanie pulled down over his head.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 541-265-0669 and tipsters can remain anonymous.
