WASHINGTON COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A section of Helvetia Road is closed after a dump truck damaged a train trestle Monday.

Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to Northwest Phillips Road outside of Hillsboro Monday just after 11:30 a.m. Monday where a 2000 Mack dump truck operated by V&K Construction attempted to go beneath the trestle without having the bed fully lowered,

The truck bed hit the trestle, causing significant damage to the tracks and knocking the bed off the truck.

Helvetia Road will be closed between Dierdorff Road and Grossen Drive during repairs.

Repairs to the trestle will take between five to seven days, according to Portland & Western Railroad (PNWR).

Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation Operations and Maintenance Division said that road repairs may also be necessary.

Local traffic is allowed between Dierdorff Road and Grossen Drive/Badertscher Road but Helvetia Road at the trestle is closed to all travelers. A detour has been set on West Union and Jackson Quarry.
